The Ultimate Guide To Pitch Decks
Boston Roots and the Seeds of Entrepreneurship
Brad’s roots in Boston run like veins through his story. The dynamic energy of the city fueled his entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. From the hustle of shining shoes to navigating through various gigs, Brad discovered the intoxicating thrill of autonomy.
These formative experiences laid the groundwork for a journey that would span industries and ideologies, revealing the profound impact one person can have on the world. Brad went to undergraduate school at Northeastern, where he took up communication studies.
He remembers that around that time, media was making the full transition from analog to digital. Being in the midst of the transition was an exciting experience because Brad was using physical tape, and the latest pro tools, technology, software, and other pieces were coming online.
Media Maven to Agricultural Innovator
As a young individual, Brad found his initial calling in media, specifically radio. The allure of the flashy, exciting world of media beckoned, but life had a different plan. Brad recalls the time when he was at work at 3:30 am and his day ended at 1:00 pm, after which he would be in class.
The transition from radio to marketing marked a pivotal moment, setting the stage for his later involvement in the agricultural sector. The biggest learning about media that Brad picked up was about storytelling and how it’s applied to business in a lot of ways.
While there is no singular way to execute it, and everyone tries to apply some formula, it’s ultimately an authentic personality story and a connection that resonates. Brad opines that understanding this concept was probably why people were successful on radio.
They enjoyed their work and delivered their story in an authentic way, infusing a rich dose of humor to tell jokes and let their personalities shine through. After a time, Brad was ready to move on to the marketing side of radio and along with a few friends started a small marketing company, selling consumer packaged goods.
The business became so successful that soon, they had six full-time employees and 300 contractors operating across New England. However, after three or four years of running the company, Brad was ready to start something new.

Freight Farms: Nurturing Sustainable Growth
The turning point came when Brad got into endurance training to compete in the Triathlon and learned how hardcore athletes viewed food as medicine to fuel their bodies. The seeds of change were sown, leading to the birth of Freight Farms, an initiative that would revolutionize controlled environment agriculture.
Freight Farms emerged as Brad’s response to a broken food system. Harnessing the power of hydroponic systems, LED lights, sensors, actuators, and other innovative technology, Brad realized that he could grow food in different configurations in many different spaces.
Brad realized that this concept had potential, which took him back to school at Clark University in Central Massachusetts. He got an MBA in Sustainability and a Master’s in Environmental Science and tuned his education around the idea of food systems and controlled environment agriculture.
Turnkey Shipping Solutions
With this training under his belt and leveraging a visionary mindset, Brad created turnkey shipping container farms using LED lights, a controlled environment, and cloud computing sensors. These mobile ecosystems, equipped with revolutionary software and operating systems, farmhand to connect farmers globally, transcending traditional boundaries in agriculture.
Building on the concept of growing food close to consumers and rooftops, Brad acquired a shipping container and started work on it. They built a full-scale forty-foot container farm, seeded it, and grew edible leafy greens. Essentially, they had created pesticide-free farms with hardware, software, and refillables.
Their containers could be shipped and dropped anywhere and are now in use in all fifty states in 40 countries. Farmers can stay connected with Freight Farms and each other to share recipes, best practices, and workflows and access a built-in store for nutrients, seeds, and all the inputs that go into their farms.
The challenges of scaling and fundraising only fueled Brad’s determination, leading to over $50 million in funding to date. The company has attracted the support of some high-end investors, including Ospraie Ag Sciences, Spark Capital, angel investors, and seed funders.

Morrissey Market: Bridging the Gap in Food Commerce
Brad’s journey continued beyond Freight Farms with the inception of Morrissey Market. Fueled by a passion for endurance racing and a newfound perspective on food as fuel, Brad recognized the untapped potential in existing food distribution infrastructure.
Morrissey Market seeks to redefine food commerce, serving as the backbone for fresh, healthy, and whole foods. In this visionary endeavor, Brad envisions a platform analogous to Shopify and fulfilled by Amazon, empowering a new generation of entrepreneurs in the fresh food industry.
Food as Medicine: A Paradigm Shift in Wellness
At the core of Brad’s ventures lies the paradigm shift in perceiving food as medicine. This evolving consciousness aligns with a broader societal movement towards mindful consumption.
Morrissey Market not only aspires to fulfill produce prescriptions but also aims to empower a new wave of entrepreneurs dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious options. It’s a holistic approach to wellness that extends beyond individual health to impact communities and the global environment.
The concept ideated from Brad’s realization that 50% of Americans are now being treated for some food-related chronic disease. This situation is costing the economy and healthcare system money and productivity to the tune of trillions of dollars.
Making changes in their diet to include healthier food options could give them a better chance of avoiding diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases. Brad’s solution is fulfilling medically tailored groceries but also ushering in an entirely new generation of food commerce entrepreneurs.
They have created a fresh food platform similar to Shopify, which is fulfilled by Amazon.
