The Ultimate Guide To Pitch Decks
Here is the content that we will cover in this post. Let’s get started.
Why Use A Sales Script
Anything new you are selling warrants a sales script. It helps you logically walk through the scientific steps of a sale. It will help you remember all of the important points and recenter if you are thrown off. It will help you become smoother at delivering the sales pitch. You can vary, adlib, and tweak it, but this is your center.
If you want to grow your business at all then you need salespeople. This even applies if you want to use robots and AI or broadcast messages. You might be a sales rockstar, but the sooner you can replicate yourself and skill and have teams selling for you, the faster and more reliably you can grow. The more time you’ll have to focus on other ways to grow the business.
Types Of Sales Scripts You May Need
There may be many types of sales scripts and templates you need as a part of your sales funnels.
These can include:
- Voicemails
- Text messages
- Social DMs
- Surveys
- Emails
- Follow up calls
- Demo and appointment setting scripts
- Live in-person pitches
- Inbound calls
- Outbound cold calling scripts
For this business templates, we are going to focus on the outbound sales script.
Also, keep in mind that sales is also something that you would apply in fundraising. In this regard for a winning pitch deck to help you here, take a look at the template created by Silicon Valley legend, Peter Thiel (see it here) that I recently covered. Thiel was the first angel investor in Facebook with a $500K check that turned into more than $1 billion in cash.

Getting The Decision Maker On The Phone
When putting your sales script template into action, keep in mind that everything is wasted if you aren’t talking to a real decision-maker. Sweet talk the gatekeepers, get appointments set in advance, or ask for introductions. Do whatever you have to in order to get to speak to the person who can actually give you a yes and a credit card number.

- Fundraising or Acquisition Process: get guidance from A to Z.

Introduce yourself quickly. Unless they are eagerly expecting your call, everyone is resistant to sales calls. Confirm who you have on the phone, give your name, and keep moving.
The introduction and the way you are sharing your story is one of the biggest reasons why startups succeed. I actually cover this in the video below where I cover the top reasons why startups succeed.
The Warm-Up
Warm them up quickly. Put them at ease by building rapport. Get them engaging and conversating. It can be about anything but selling. If you’ve done your homework you should know some of their interests and passions, and be able to use that.
The Big Claim
Why should they keep listening and invest this time? What will peak their interest enough to keep their attention so you can sell?
Establish Credibility
This is a critical aspect of the sales script template. Why listen to you? Make a positioning statement that gives you credibility. Who else have you helped? How strong is your company? Where have you been featured or awarded?
The Benefits
What are the tangible benefits of what you are selling? What problems are you solving? Be specific with 1-3 statistics and data points. Remember that it has to be big enough to warrant wanting to overcome the pain of the buying process and the perceived risk of the investment.
Qualifying Questions
Here is where you make sure they are a good fit for your product or service. As well as ensuring it is a good match and they can afford it. Qualifying questions are a psychological tool to draw them to you and continue to build rapport. They also give you more insight into them and their business which you can use to complete the sale.
The Offer
Present your offer in relevance to the previous conversation and questions. Don’t get bogged down in overexplaining. Just a 1-3 sentence offer with tangible and personalized benefits.
The Hook
This is the part of the sales script template that will push people over the edge. Create a sense of urgency by making a special offer. This can be a limited time offer, limited quality offer, or a special bonus.
The Close
Get the agreement. If you can’t get payment on the spot, then get a commitment to the next step on a specific timeframe. Set a hard follow update and schedule it.
The Objections & Rebuttals List
Every sales pitch has objections and questions. The art of the sale is to rebut and overcome them effectively. When you can, you even want to preempt them by addressing them in advance as a part of your script.
Track the objections you get. Add them to the end of the script or in a second document. Add the best answers. This way your team will always be equipped to overcome them more seamlessly.
Hopefully, this post provided some perspective as you are looking into putting a sales script template to work.
