The Ultimate Guide To Pitch Decks
A Spark in Versailles
Born in Paris and raised in the serene, castle-laden city of Versailles, Quentin’s entrepreneurial ambitions were not immediately apparent. Versailles, as he recalls, was a “nice, very pleasant” place, but not a hotbed for innovation or business.
During his economics studies in Paris, Quentin felt the first stirrings of an entrepreneurial spirit. Inspired by the idea of “inventing his own life,” he resisted the conventional route of sending resumes to established companies.
Instead, Quentin set out to create something of his own, launching his first venture during the dawn of the Macintosh era.
Early Ventures: Consulting and Technology
In 1984, Quentin began helping small businesses and architects integrate Macintosh computers into their operations. This foray into consulting allowed him to gain insight into technology’s transformative potential. He learned how to create something more product-based than service-based.
Over the years, Quentin expanded his reach, working with global giants like Coca-Cola and Danone to develop business strategies and scalable models. He found excitement in being a “newcomer” to industries, bringing fresh perspectives and tools to seasoned professionals.
This enthusiasm for transformation is comparable to today’s wave of AI innovation, where newcomers wielding cutting-edge knowledge can influence and reshape entire sectors.
Quentin was soon consulting with companies entering the global business landscape of telecommunications, converging between different technologies, which was very interesting for him.

Transition to Devialet: A Teenage Dream Realized
After over a decade in consulting, Quentin felt a growing desire to move from advising to creating. At 40, he revisited a teenage dream shared with his cousin: to revolutionize sound technology. This vision culminated in the founding of Devialet in 2007.
Devialet redefined audio reproduction with groundbreaking technology and design. The company’s success lies in its ability to assemble a team with diverse skills—from signal processing, acoustics, electronics, and software to microelectronics—and align them under a shared, ambitious vision.
Their objective was to fix the problem with sound reproduction. Quentin’s leadership fostered collaboration that broke down traditional barriers, enabling the creation of products that delivered unparalleled sound quality, from deep bass in compact devices to distortion-free audio.
Quentin recalls how his team worked toward a clear vision and ambition, effectively changing the rules and enhancing each teammate’s individual capabilities and skills. They invented a new kind of transducer or speaker to enable all electronics and microelectronics to deliver more power.
Being a newcomer with a new approach to different technologies gave Quentin that extra innovative edge. He also recognized the importance of having an amazing team and surrounding himself with the right people with skills different from and complementing his own.
Partnering with the right people ensures that they are completely aligned with their vision for the future which eliminates all difficulties. Robust partnerships and having third parties on board to help resolve potential conflicts are the key to success, as Quentin sees it.
Building a Luxury Brand
Devialet’s business model combined luxury branding with cutting-edge technology. The company developed premium products sold in exclusive stores to ensure a controlled and exceptional customer experience.
Simultaneously, they licensed their proprietary technologies to generate additional royalties and complementary revenue streams, balancing innovation with profitability. Essentially, they had a double business model.
Quentin’s ability to secure significant funding—€200M ($206M)—was instrumental in realizing Devialet’s ambitions, a capital-intensive company. However, he acknowledges the trade-offs, noting how raising capital often involves relinquishing some control.
It’s a delicate balance, one that requires clarity of purpose and strong partnerships, Quentin points out.

Genesis: From Sound to Sustainability
A pivotal moment in Quentin’s life came during a trip to California, where he witnessed the environmental toll of industrial agriculture. His father was an agronomist and Quentin could see the impact of substantial water and resources being used for farming.
Deeply moved, he decided to leave Devialet and channel his entrepreneurial energy into addressing environmental challenges. This led to the creation of Genesis, a company dedicated to measuring the environmental impact of agricultural practices.
Genesis provides data to major corporations like Nestlé, LVMH, and L’Oréal, enabling them to link their decisions to environmental outcomes.
By offering actionable insights, Genesis empowers businesses to adopt sustainable practices, fostering a future where agriculture and forestry work in harmony with nature.
Using the data, companies can measure and monitor their impact over time so they can make the necessary changes in their practices as key providers in the agricultural and forestry spaces.
A Vision of the Future
Quentin envisions a world where the principles of Genesis are fully realized–landscapes teeming with biodiversity, diverse crops growing alongside vibrant ecosystems, and agricultural practices that respect and rejuvenate the soil.
In this future, the health of the environment is palpable, with more birds, insects, and resilient landscapes providing a tangible sense of balance and sustainability.
As Quentin sees it, by specializing production, we are destroying the diversity needed to manage diseases in the spaces. More efficient management can lower the risk worldwide.
