Jamba: Pioneering Value-Added Services

Wenzel’s journey as an entrepreneur began with Jamba, a company that aimed to monetize value-added services for mobile network operators. 

By leveraging the power of data networks and technological advancements, Jamba enabled operators to offer a wide range of mobile content and applications. 

This early success story showcased the immense value of technology and its ability to transform industries, leading to the eventual acquisition by News Corp and VeriSign in a transaction rumored to be $200 million.

Moneybookers (Paysafe): Revolutionizing Online Payments

Recognizing the need for secure online payment solutions, Wenzel co-lead Moneybookers, later rebranded as Paysafe. 

This groundbreaking company became the first to receive the iMoney license in Europe, paving the way for digital alternatives to traditional remittance services. 

Despite navigating financial challenges, Wenzel’s strategic approach and partnerships allowed Paysafe to weather the storm and eventually secure a successful exit.

Foodpanda (Delivery Hero): Disrupting the Food Delivery Landscape

Understanding the power of technological disruption, Wenzel ventured into the realm of food delivery with Foodpanda. 

In a market dominated by traditional classified-style platforms, Foodpanda sought to create a more efficient, personalized, and reliable service. 

Expanding rapidly into multiple countries, they tested the waters and iterated their approach to find the sweet spot of market fit. Eventually, Foodpanda merged with Delivery Hero, becoming one of the largest food delivery platforms globally.

In June 2017, Delivery Hero debuted on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with its initial public offering. 

The IPO was well-received by investors, reflecting the market’s recognition of the company’s potential and the increasing demand for food delivery services globally. The IPO marked a significant milestone for Delivery Hero, providing it with access to public capital and further opportunities for growth

Since going public, Delivery Hero’s market value has experienced significant growth, driven by its expanding presence and continued innovation in the food delivery industry. 

As of September 2021, Delivery Hero’s market capitalization was around €27 billion (approximately $32 billion USD).

Transitioning to the world of venture capital, Wenzel joined Softbank, the largest technology investor at the time.
